You may be eligible for a rebate on your City water bill
Many Toronto businesses are paying too much for their City water. Businesses that typically are eligible for a rebate include cold storage warehouses, plastics manufacturers, hockey and curling rinks, breweries and food processing plants.
The City of Toronto has a Sewer Surcharge Rebate Program. Under this program, businesses which divert more than 15% (generally) of their incoming water away from the sanitary sewer are eligible for a rebate on their water bill. This is often the case for businesses which use water in their product or which divert water by evaporation via a cooling tower or evaporative condenser.
Water bill rebates can be in excess of 30%, and you don’t even need to anything to receive the first year rebate-you simply need to apply for it. To apply for the rebate, a business needs to submit a report which summarizes their water usage and includes an estimate of the percentage of the incoming water diverted from the sanitary sewer. The report needs to be signed by a professional engineer. That’s where we can help.
